Joanna Galon-Frant

 

Pianist, chamber musician. She graduated from Prof. J. Stompel piano class in the Academy of Music in Katowice, and completed postgraduate studies in the class of piano chamber music of Prof. M.Szwajgier-Kułakowska and assistant M.Moś. A student of  Scuola Superiore Internazionale di Musica da Camera del Trio di Trieste in Italy. Holder of scholarships granted by Minister of Art and Culture and by Stiftung fuer die Musik in Zurich.

She worked on improving her skills on numerous master's courses, both piano courses - working with such artists as Kevin Kenner, Paul Badura-Skoda, Rudolf Buchbinder, Erick Heidsick and chamber music courses – duet Brache Eden & Aleksander Tamir, Yair Kless, Christoph Wyneken, Jerzy Marchwiński, Anthony Spiri.

 

She performed as a soloist with the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra (playing S. Rakhmaninov's the 2nd piano concerto) and with Aukso chamber orchestra ("Atma - Multiplay" by S.Przybylski for piano, oboe and string orchestra), with which she occasionally cooperates, including such projects as "Marathon of Works by H.M.Górecki", "Warsaw Autumn", "First Performance Festival", “Festival of film music” and many others.

She gives concerts as a soloist and chamber musician taking part in numerous festivals.

 

As an enthusiast for chamber music, she concentrates mainly on this field playing concerts with her husband, cello player Łukasz Frant in "Frant Duo" duet or piano trio "Trio AdAstra" with violinist Anna Szabelka. In June 2004 together with another trio – Trio Artis – with violinist Marta Huget she received the 1st prize at the 43rd L. van Beethoven International Chamber Competition in Hradec (Czech Republic) .

In November 2005, in Frant Duo, she was a finalist of the 29th International Chamber Music Competition "Premio Vittorio Gui” in Florence.

In May 2007 at the 10’ International Chamber Music Competition “Premio Trio do Trieste” Frant Duo was awarded the special price for the best ensamble from Central Europe.

 

She has been a doctor of the Academy of Music in Katowice, where she has been working as a teacher in the Chamber Music Departament.
