Anna Szabelka

 

A graduate of the Academy of Music in Katowice where she studied with Prof. Roman Lasocki, and the Academy of Music in Warsaw with Prof. Konstanty Andrzej Kulka.

She has participated in numerous master classes, polishing her skills with Prof. Irena Dubiska nad Prof. Mariana Jaszwili.

 

She is a laureate of the 3rd Prof. Tadeusz Wroński Competition for Violin Solo, where she was also awarded a Special Prize for the best performance of contemporary piece. In 1995 she was granted a scholarship of the Ministry of Culture and Arts.

 

In 2000-2001 she was the first violinist of the Silesian String Quartet. She has performed both at home and abroad including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, USA, Czech Republic and Finland. She has collaborated with such conductors as Jerzy Salwarowski, Marek Pijarowski, Jerzy Swoboda, Mirosław J. Błaszczyk, Maciej Niesiołowski.

 

She has performed with Jadwiga Kotnowska, Waldemar Malicki, Piotr Pławner, Marek Toporowski. She has participated in numerous festivals in Poland and abroad including the first festival devoted to Roman Maciejewski’s pieces, The Silesian Days of Contemporary Music, Internationales Bodenseefestival, Internationales Chopin Festival, 61. Internationale Kammermusic – festspiele, Concentus Moraviae. She has premiered many works by Polish contemporary composers. She has recorded for the Polish Radio and Television, Finnish Radio and her CD recordings include works of such composers as Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Lasoń, Szymanowski, Szymański, Schnittke, Szostakowicz and Vivaldi.

 

Since 2005 she has been the first violinist of the Akademos String Quartet and performed twice in Cornegie Hall in New York taking part in the project “Perspectives – Emerson String Quartet Young Artists Concert”.

 

At present her activity concentrates on collaborating with Joanna Galon-Frant playing the piano and Łukasz Frant playing the cello and forming the AdAstra Piano Trio.
