AdAstra Piano Trio is an ensemble of three artists, who have been united by passion,
enthusiasm and love for chamber music.
All members of the trio have very active and rich professional lives giving recitals both as soloists and chamber musicians. They are all the prize-winners of numerous awards in Polish and international music competitions.
Anna Szabelka – for many years the first violin of the Akademos String Quartet, Łukasz Frant – the principal cellist with the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, and Joanna Galon-Frant – the doctor and adjunct professor in Katowice Academy of Music, all inspired by richness and diversity of the chamber music art and their love for music, decided to transform their occasional performances in numerous projects into a regularly playing piano trio.
As members of AdAstra Piano Trio they have played together for almost ten years.
Their home town is Katowice in Poland and they are professionaly associated with
Katowice Academy of Music and the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
For those several years of their cooperation they have menaged to develop vast range of repertoire including classical, romantic and modern music. Although they are pleased to be performing pieces of all styles their activity and passion is specially devoted to music of XX and XXI century. Thier favourite set of compositions includes works of such composers as Charles Ives, Henry Cowell, Peteris Vasks, Paul Schoenfield, Lera Auerbach, Jenifer Higdon, Stacy Garrop or Arvo Part.
Their interests have resulted in the release of the CD "Episodi" entirely devoted to modern music.
Currently, the trio is working on another album entirely devoted to compositions of Alfred Schnittke.
